Our Mission

Martha’s Vineyard Center for Living strives to improve the quality of life for those impacted by aging and impairment.

Our History

Martha’s Vineyard Center for Living provides a variety of services, programs, and activities for Islanders 55 and over through partnerships with the Town Councils on Aging (COA’s) and other related organizations.

In 1973 Island Councils on Aging was established as a 501c3 to support the work of the local municipal Councils on Aging to collaborate and address needs on a regional basis, rather than individually town focused programs. In 2009, the name was changed to Martha’s Vineyard Center for Living to reflect a focus on living, rather than aging. The mission and focus has remained the same.

MV Center for Living is eligible for grants and funding not available to town government bodies such as the Councils on Aging. This eligibility allows us to provide island-wide services that complement programs offered through the towns and other agencies serving 55+ Islanders.

Martha’s Vineyard Center for Living is a 501c3 nonprofit organization. Your gifts are tax-deductible and greatly appreciated.

Our Vision

Martha’s Vineyard Center for Living’s vision is to provide services and programs that create an age-friendly environment, promote dignity, reduce stigma, support independence, and foster community engagement.
